Sapphire Hill Vineyard, RRV
Pleasant, appealing aromas of vanilla bean, strawberry and subtle forest floor-mushroom earthiness. Velvety soft and round on the palate with medium tannins, this is a generously fruited Pinot awash in ripe strawberry-pomegranate juice flavors enhanced by mocha and duxelles mushrooms, finishing with a touch of mineral-tinged framboise. $42 / 408 cases

89   Siduri, 2005 Pinot Noir
Van der Kamp Vnyd, Sonoma Mountain
Nose of strawberry and wilted rose petals, plus a wisp of white smoke. Rich and luxurious on the palate with silky tannins and juicy flavors of strawberry and spice, with the spice extending into the long close. This Pinot shows more oak nuance as it opens. $42 / 329 cases

91   Talley, 2004 Pinot Noir
Rincon Vineyard, Arroyo Grande Valley
Forward, slightly peppery aromas of black cherry, blackberry, wild strawberry and rose petals. Full bodied with medium-full tannins, this is a big, fleshy style of Pinot delivering copious, concentrated black cherry fruit tinged with an iron-like minerality characteristic of this vineyard. The finish resonates almost a full minute. $68 / 600 cases

90   Talley, 2004 Pinot Noir
Rosemary's Vnyd, Arroyo Grande Valley
Forward, very fragrant scents of black cherry-blackberry fruit, some smokiness and baking spice. Smooth, round and supple with medium tannins, this complex, well-stuffed Pinot offers layers of ripe black fruit framed in sweet oak, with notes of dried herbs and vanilla in the close. $55 / 540 cases
