Requirements for Electronically Supplied Ad Files
We will accept native application files, provided they are constructed within
the following guidelines:
- Document size must equal ad size; for full-page placements, build ad to
bleed size if appropriate.
- A digital color proof at 100% of the ad size must be supplied. Acceptable
formats are Iris, Kodak, Pola or other calibrated digital proofing systems.
Proofs should be an accurate color representation of the electronic file and
must include proofing color bars. If an appropriate proof is not supplied,
the client will be charged for output of a press proof from the supplied
digital file.
- All colors must be CMYK with process separations.
- All screen font suitcases and printer fonts must be supplied in a folder.

- Quark EPS files are proprietary to their original creation site and we prefer NOT to accept them.
- All files, including photos, illustrations, and documents must be saved as CMYK with Process Separation checked unless it is designed to print as a spot on a separate press unit. Resolution of hi-res files must be a minimum of 2 times the line screen of the printed page.
- A Note on Colorized Tiffs — These create problems because Quark doesn’t write the comments pertaining to the color added in Quark when Postscript is written omitting Tiffs and EPS files. In OPI work flow it is better to have the file appear as it should in the original creation.
- Application Files (Mac-generated is preferred): QuarkXPress, Illustrator
and Photoshop are preferred; PageMaker and Freehand are acceptable. Any
special effects applied to hi-res images must be done in the application in
which they were created.
